Chesed is the Hebrew word for kindness. Chesed refers to something we do for other people, communities or organizations that is selfless and benefits the recipient. Many of us are happy to give money as a Chesed, but how many of us give of ourselves? Doing for others brings happiness to you and the recipient.
The safety of the community, Chessed givers and Chessed receivers is of the utmost importance. Therefore, to keep everyone safe and responsible, all Chessed givers and Chessed receivers will have to be vetted and pre-screened prior to having access to doing a Chesed.
The vetting process usually takes 24-48 hours as your reference needs to be contacted. It can take longer, however, please remember that this processes is needed for everyone’s safety.
Chessed tasks can range from picking up drycleaning, grocery shopping, to just sitting with someone who is sick and needs a friend for a few minutes. Tasks can be a one time 10 minute experience or an all day adventure. To review the tasks and the details, you can visit the Chessed Search page and click on the listings to view the details.
